“For-profit companies must pay their fair share of taxes,” Corrado said. “Currently, money-making cemeteries have been benefiting from a nonprofit system. This is unfair. Taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill.”
Corrado Calls for Legislative Hearings on Murphy Admin’s Hiring of Convicted Politician
Senator Kristin Corrado called for legislative hearings to determine how a former politician convicted of bribery could be hired into the Murphy Administration despite state laws prohibiting the employment of corrupt officials in government positions. “Governor Murphy’s suggestion that his administration conducted a legal review that supported the hiring of Marcellus Jackson despite his prior conviction on federal corruption charges doesn’t pass the smell test,” said Corrado. “Both the Attorney General and the Office of Legislative Services have said the hiring is a violation of New Jersey law. We must hold legislative hearings to determine where the process broke down and how it can be fixed going forward to maintain the public’s trust in government.”
Corrado Announces National Adoption Day Toy Drive
As part of her ongoing effort to support New Jersey’s foster children and adoptive families, Senator Kristin Corrado’s district office will be collecting children’s toy donations through November 9th.

“Seeing a child find their forever-family is truly a blessing,” Corrado said. “I was fortunate to grow up in a loving home, where two of my sisters were adopted. After joining the District 40 legislators on a tour of flood-ravaged areas in Little Falls yesterday, Governor Murphy today declared a State of Emergency, so that storm-impacted communities can secure State funds to cope with the damage of last weekend’s catastrophic rain storms.
“Disaster relief is not a partisan issue. We have to reach across the aisle and work together to help every family who was hit hard by this storm. The devastation we have seen in our neighborhoods is heart-wrenching, to say the least. There are people here who have lost everything,” Senator Corrado (R-40) said. “I am so grateful to Governor Murphy for taking immediate action to ensure our communities have the resources they need to rebuild and recover.”

“The repercussions of texting sexually explicit images for teenagers can be far-reaching,” Corrado (R-40) said. “Many don’t think about the social trauma, bullying, and heartbreak they could experience if a picture or video falls into the wrong hands, and they often don’t realize they might be creating, possessing, or distributing child pornography with extremely serious legal repercussions. It’s imperative that we teach our kids that ‘sexting’ can ruin their reputations and impact their future.”

The legislation (S-396) forbids members of the council from voting on investments that present a financial or familial conflict of interest. The bill was pushed forward by the senators in the wake of several pension scandals in New Jersey.
“This legislation is a critical step forward in our longstanding efforts to bring transparency and accountability to the way the government invests taxpayer dollars,” Senator Pennacchio (R-26) said. “I am glad to see Governor Murphy take action on our bill. There have been far too many violations of public trust on the State Investment Council in recent years. Anyone who handles public money must be held accountable.”

“We pray and hope our schools are safe from predators,” Senator Bucco stated. “However, under New Jersey’s current laws, we just don’t know. It is time to protect our students and require additional background checks for all school staff members. This common-sense approach will help us stop predators from having access to our students.”
